In his form as Chenrizig, he is the Creator. It is He who is reborn in the Dalai Lama.

Chenrizig is the Tibetan name for Avalokitesvara.

Compassion for all Beings is the Gift He Brings

the 17th Karmapa, on the occasion of the celebration at Rumtek Monastery of his 18th birthday in 2006, commented:

Generally, samsara--the cycle of birth, sickness, old age, and death--is a cause of suffering and is to be abandoned. There is nothing about it to celebrate and honor. However, if a person born in this world is helpful to all sentient beings and serves the teachings of the Buddha, then this kind of birth is not to be belittled and should be praised and honored.

Here we see the many aspects and thousand arms and heirarchy of

Chenrizig~~Avalokitesvara~~Quan Yin

Chenrizig is His Tibetan Name. Avalokitesvara, His India/Vedic Name.

Quan Yin is the Name for this diety's Feminine Aspect.

The Goddess Quan Yin, Her Chinese spelling...Kwan Yin, Her Japanese spelling.

In this picture Quan Yin is infused with Chenrizig and His thousand arms.

In various other countries, ie Cambodia...the spelling may vary yet again.

Quan Yin had lead such a good life upon the Earth that She was given a Boon...She had

earned the right to live forever in Paradise. As She ascended into the Heavens, she heard

the mournful cries of Humanity; weeping and writhing in misery. She turned back, vowing

to remain on Earth as a Boddhisatva, helping humans until the last one achieves Consciousness.

She has blessed me for 49 years...I knew not who she was, but from the first time I saw her, I

"knew" her...I loved her, and this likeness of Her was the first object, before a bed, to be brought

into my first home, and She is with me still. She was in the furniture store when my Husband and I,

newly married, went to look for a bedroom set, and I walked around the corner of one room into

another; and as if it were a person there, I looked up into her eyes and knew that if I'd had to sleep

on the floor, I wanted Her! Both our Parents agreed to gift her to us. The furniture salesman

said she was the Goddess of Fertility, and that's what I believed for over 30 years, until my studies

of Taoism, and various aspects of Tibetan culture began.

Here She holds the Sacred Pearl; the secret and seed of Life.

The rosy stone felt almost alive; Her beauty filled my heart...Sedona respects Art, Artists, Nature and Spirit.

The phenomenal artist Alex Gray has depicted the ideal vision of Avalokitesvara.

Notice the thousand arms, and varied shamanic tools with which Avalokitesvara is able to accomplish

all things. The eye in each hand gives Him all-seeing. His many heads see in every direction, and

exist in all dimensions and finer and finer realms. The ghoulish looking head denotes the reality that

part of a Compassionate Attitude is one that destroys Illusion; our delusions. Hearing that we are

wrong can feel like someone is 'beating us up,' treating us monstrously...thus the monster face.

This Teacher's work on himself created change in many lives; in fact, in the world. He is proof that to take Responsibility is to initiate a response that blossoms throughout society. Shivamokshananda is his Spiritual Name, given him by Muktananda, I believe...and it means that he cuts through the illusion and delusion of life, like Shiva; he is conscious, moksha and one who helps other to See. He introduced me to Avalokitesvara and many other diety from all religions.

Robert Sohn is the reason I made this page...it was and is in honor of him, and now also in honor of His Holiness the Dali Lama. Dr. Sohn is the reason I had any courage or desire to touch a computer! lol...and now, I have learned much and keep learning, as he had promised.

Avalokitesvara was the first webpage I ever made...� 1997 ...in response to the man; the Visionary, who taught that if one fails to learn to use a computer, they will be lost in the dust of a world that was becoming; and as he promised, HAS become totally computer-oriented. When he passed on, something in my resistance broke down, and I bought a computer and learned how to use it with the help of my friend Lilith and sheer determination and experimentation.
